One of the highlights of President Bush's January 2000, State of the Union address was the acknowledgement of the need for increased funding for substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment. In the midst of economic and world crisis at the same moment he discussed plans to engage in war with Iraq, the President of the United States said to the nation:

“Another cause of hopelessness is addiction to drugs. Addiction crowds out friendship, ambition, moral conviction, and reduces all the richness of life to a single destructive desire…Yet for those already addicted, the fight against drugs is a fight for their own lives. Too many Americans in search of treatment cannot get the treatment they need.”

Sunrise House Foundation and its staff of heroes fight the war against the ravages of addiction on a daily basis. Whether the individual is a youngster destroying his or her life and tearing the spirit out of the family, or a young mother who has given birth to an addicted child, or a policeman, fireman, lawyer, laborer, craftsman or teacher, or a retired senior citizen, or a 9/11 victim, or a Gulf War veteran we will be there to serve them, regardless of their race, faith or gender.

However, in order to do this, we need the help and support of our communities. We need your help in promoting our mission. We need your help in supporting the work that is done by the Sunrise House Foundation.

We need your help in fighting the war against drugs and alcohol abuse and dependence that has victimized the families and individual lives of millions of Americans every year.

Please, get involved.

Sincerely,

Philip Horowitz, Ph.D.
